The Prime Minister Meeting Chinese investors
On
Tuesday 6 September 2005, the Prime Minister hosted a business breakfast
meeting with leading Chinese investors accompanied by the Secretary of
State for Trade and Industry Mr. Alan Johnson and Minister for Trade Mr.
Ian Pearson. These Chinese investors included senior representatives
from: Huawei Technologies, Konka, Midea, BOE, China Telecom, Huaqi,
Alibaba, Alison Group and Goldtel.
The President of Goldtel Group, Ms. Yanhe Presented the meeting.
At this meeting, Blair predicted trade and investment between Britain
and China could reach 40 billion dollars in the next five years.
"I said to them that the United Kingdom is open for business," said
the British leader.
Set up
Goldtel Cambridge Ltd was launched at St John’s Innovation Centre in
Cambridge on 12 March 2003. Over fifty quests and representatives from
the Chinese embassy, Cambridge University and local high-tech firms
attended the launch ceremony.
“The opening of the UK subsidiary is all part of Goldtel Group’s
expansion strategy, “said President He Yan. “The group intends
establishing links with UK firms and to invest in start-up or small but
growing local high-tech companies” GoldTel Cambridge Ltd aims to conduct
research and development in telecom, IT and other cutting edge
technology.
